ALAO MY SON

 TO MY SON: ALAO

It was just sixty years ago
When men were still boys
With strength flowing
Like electric current

No support no parent
No  inheritance no sandals
Still worked up my wealth
Without scandals

The one they despise
Is now confirmed to be wise
Even my alake omo oni rice
Left and saw me rise

The rich and the endowed
The wise and the learned
All sitting on the same chair
To commend the boy that was condemned

I walked my way to wealth alone
But no kobo i own is spent alone
Even the men i used to owe
All came back to borrow

So my son
You will work
But not the journey
Or the work would matter

Because you will work to avoid being worked

ONDO STATE: AS AKEREDOLU MOUNTS THE SOAPBOX
contributed to obbyopsy by Omosowone Ayodeji/ leave a comment

Good evening , There's an old British Telecom advert then that: " it is good to talk.....", and today, I'm in the spirit.
Like Winston Churchill said, ''Truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it, ignorance may deride it, malice may distort it, but there it is. Because there's nothing greater than the truth." Again, De Casseres made a remark that, "the profoundest instinct in man is to war against the truth". So I won't be surprised if some people chose to get miffed with this piece. Such is life!
Later this week, a new governor will mount the soapbox in my state to take his oath of office which comes with its own concomitant responsibilities. Ofcourse, there would be wild jubilation and numerous accidental lyrical compositions from his party faithfuls like it was that lovely morning of February 23rd, 2009, when the Court of Appeal in Benin, Edo state capital upheld the verdict of the 5-man election petition tribunal led by Garba Nabaruma and declared Gov. Olusegun Mimiko winner of the April 14, 2008 guber election.
That was the last time power changed hands in the state.
The ineffable joy that heralded Mimiko's coming was surreal and uncommon. As a matter of fact, even the giddiness of the celebration precipitated the death of some people and lamentations for their families. Ofcourse, we were rused by the outward profundity and the continuous repetition of the phrase, "I will ensure...." by the new governor, to the extent that we expected from him a magical revolution that would transform the whole state.
At his inauguration, the slogan: "ise takun takun"-hardwork, came on board without anyone able to decode the seal within that gobbledygook expression.
As there's free shuttle buses for school children, building of Mega schools and ultra-modern markets in the 18 local govts that make up the state, so also, there were other pulchritudinous projects going on at the state capital.
After four years, we seemed not to know the true Iroko. Mind you, not as a bastion of bad leadership but as a governor with a lot in stock for us. So, we voted him in the second term. Something that has never happened before in the history of Ondo state.
Few months later, the steam started cooling down like melting dew and before long the mumbling turned to moaning and grunting. As the race for Primary School Certificate began, so the termination of workers' employment followed. The payment of salaries and bursaries in arrears precipitated responses ranging from caustic vituperation, incoherent bile to well-articulated angst and rebuke of the governor.
As a matter of fact, unemployment now become dangerously massive. We are one of the richest states with the highest number of unemployed youths in the country now. But thanks to the Buhari's N-power programme now.
Even if we're to commend him for the engagement of youth participation in his administration by virtue of his jumbo S.A empowerment throughout the state, and for changing the facades of the State Capital to those common in different conurbations in the country, can those in the North and South that hasn't seen power supply since the last 6yrs, or those deprived the chance of having seaport forgive him?
Without doubt, in these past 8years of Mimiko in Ondo state, our journey has not been easy or rosy. Though some few people experienced a sudden political and pecuniary turn-around but what you'll see on the faces of the majority before the November guber election was a picture of a helpless people hankering for the Messiah. Perhaps that's why his candidate was rejected and the people fell quarry to the APC's 'see and buy' stratagem.
Anyway, the odyssey is over now. I know the governor by now has realised, like the mythical Medusa that he castrated lives, dreams and ambitions of so many- via upper crust arrogance and ignorance but such is life.
But then, it's saddening to see a man we so loved like him play politics this tragic way. It completely negates everything he purportedly stood for. But what do we know? Beyond sound bite and political correctness, only God understands why things turned this way. It may be to teach other leaders lesson that power is transient.
Anyway, we are going to witness by Friday for the first time a seamless transition between civilian to civilian government in the state. I just can't wait to hear our new governor resonate some powerful rhetorics like:
"My dear people of Ondo state. I appreciate you for the emergence of this government.......together we will heal the wounds. Together we shall work to deliver good government to our people.
My people, ours is for the restoration of the hope of the people and to apply a redemptive balm on the excruciating alienation of the people of this state after 8 years in the throes of Mimiko's inflicted pains and labyrinth of economic haemorrhagic pillage".
(You sabi lawyers nah...smiles!)
My people, no matter the grammar, as far as I can see, aside the fact that the governor-elect said it will take hardwork to surpass the track record put into public service by the outgoing governor, there's not going to be any big difference between this Mimiko's government and the incoming one. Reason that the various investigations and interests of the APC as a party in Ondo state's wealth confirm the suspicion that some individuals invested in the race to occupy Alagbaka not for the betterment of the state but simply for personal gains. Forget the 'Change' and 'Think Anew, Act Anew' mantra. They are just mere chicaneries.
Notwithstanding, I want to advise the newly elected governor that a good image is everything and he should be ready to create a good one for himself, by addressing as a matter of urgency the issue of non-representation at the NDDC, power supply in both the Northern and Southern parts of the state, neglect of the agricultural sector, reformation of the educational system and the issue of unemployment in the state rather than concentrating on probing the outgoing governor as some people want him to do. No man is perfect, and there can never be any except God. Mimiko should just be left to his conscience, after all, those who pillaged this state before him are no more. So, he should make his achievements in the last 8 years become the incendiary prod that would spur him to do better. Though that doesn't mean that looted shouldn't be substantially retrieved but it should be done with caution and as well in a way that bestiality may not rejoice over humanity.

MEMBERS OF UK PARLIAMENT DISAGGRE TO PRESIDENT TRUMP'S UK OFFICIAL VISIT
OBBYOPSY REPORTS/ LEAVE A COMMENT

US President Donald Trump was accused of behaving "like a petulant child," during a debate in the British parliament about the controversial decision to invite him on a state visit to the UK so early in his term.
The comment arose as members of Parliament were discussing a petition calling for the trip to be downgraded because of Trump's "well-documented misogyny and vulgarity."
Opening the largely symbolic debate in Westminster Hall, Labour MP Paul Flynn said: "We all in this room hold in great respect the US presidency, their constitution, their history," and that there was "no question of any disrespect towards that country.
But Flynn -- who described Trump's intellectual capacity as "protozoan" -- argued that to grant the honor of a state visit to a president who had acted "like a petulant child" would send the message that Britain approved of his behavior and comments.
Labour MP David Lammy said it was to be expected that the US President would be invited to the UK, but that offering Trump a full state visit after only seven days in power was not acceptable.
He said that for the country to make such an invitation was to "abandon all its principles," and suggested that the move came because the government was desperate to make trade deals.
"We didn't do this for Kennedy, we didn't do this for Truman, we didn't do this for Reagan, but for this man ... we say, 'Please come and we will lay on everything, because we are so desperate for your company,'" he said. "I think this country is greater than that."

“Ladies and gentleman, with a mother’s pride, Beyonce,” Knowles announced.
Beyonce started her performance with holographic imagery projected on a giant screen that eventually gave way to the singer walking out live on stage. The holographic imagery had the singer channel the traditional Yoruba river and fertility goddess, Ọṣun.

During the visually impressive, Beyonce performed two tracks from “Lemonade” — “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles” — sung in the middle of poetic lines.
"Love Drought" while backed by an array of dancers.
However, she followed this with piercing simplicity, sitting down and belting a devastating rendition of "Sandcastles."
“Do you remember being born?” the singer asked. A part of the performance showed images of three generations of her family, including her mother, and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

Clad in a golden gown and headdress, Beyonce performed on a long table surrounded by backup dancers. She sat on a chair and leaned back in a gravity-defying trick that those inside the theater said took some time to set up before the act. It was an ode to motherhood, with many images alluding to childbirth.
The performance closed on an optimistic note, with Beyoncé reciting another Shire line, "If we're going to heal, let it be glorious/ One thousand girls raise their arms."
Going into the ceremony, Beyonce was nominated for a nine awards for her visual album, “Lemonade,” which gave her a chance to break or at least tie two major Grammy records: most trophies in a single night, as well as the record for most all-time Grammy wins by a female artist. But by the time she took the stage to perform, Beyonce had already lost four of the first five awards

    BASIC NEEDS OF AN INDIVIDUAL

    There are certain basic needs which every individual must fulfill before he can function effectively; this needs categorized into two;
    The biological needs
    The social needs
The American psychologist called Abraham Maslow and some other known scholar
Identify the following need for every human being
    Hunger needs
    Shelter
    Security
    Love
    Self conceptualization
    Self actualization
HUNGER : every individual become hungry and need to be satisfied by taken some food, if hunger need is not favorably meet an individual cannot perform effectively. An adage says (a hungry man is an angry man). Also the body needs food in order to release energy to carry the activities of life. If hunger exists, the health of an individual becomes affected.
SHELTER: every individual needs a home to live, this  home have some influences on his health, if the house is a poor home the person cannot live successfully, hence the person faces problem which will affect his normal health and vice-versa
SECURITY: in order to function efficiently, every individual needs one form of security or the other. If this is not met, the individual becomes in efficient and tense to totally depend on others. Security could be in form of job, marriage and also a nation must be free from war and crisis.
LOVE: we all want love and also to beloved. A person who cannot love may live in isolation which is identification of poor health and vice-versa.
SELF CONCEPTUALIZATION: any normal human being will always try to feel important among others. We always want other to accept and respect us. So you should also accept and respect others. An individual who cannot receive recognition from others feel deficient and inferior and cannot live comfortably within himself.
SELF ACTUALIZATION: this is the last need which an individual want to satisfy. At old age, an individual will like to sit down and have a retrospective assessment of life achievement. An individual who has no reasonable thing to look after will feel bad; this goes a long way to affect his or her health.
In conclusion, Maslow et al feels that if one need is favorably satisfied, all others become affected. Through the satisfaction of one of this need leads to the satisfaction of others.

    BUHARI RETURNS .......................NO
    LONGER ENJOYING HIS STAY IN
     LONDON............Garba shehu
BY OBBYOPSY REPORTER/ LEAVE A COMMENT
The Presidency has tipped Nigerians on the possible return of President Muhammadu Buhari from London anytime soon as he is no longer “enjoying his stay’’ outside the country, obbyopsy reports.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, in an interview with the Channels Television in Abuja on Tuesday, said that the president would be returning to Nigeria soonest as he was no longer “comfortable” with the extended vacation in London.

Although Garba did not give specific time and day of Buhari’s arrival, he told his listeners to “get ready to see President Buhari any moment from today”.

“As a matter of fact, we should be getting ready to see the president in flesh and that will be soon as possible. The President (himself) is looking to being home to be with his people. I don’t think he is enjoying any longer with an extended vacation outside the country,’’ he said.

On the president’s telephone conversation with President Trump, Shehu described as “undiplomatic,’’ the request being made in some quarters for the release of the audio containing the conversation.

According to him, releasing an audio containing telephone conversation between two presidents is highly unethical and against modern day civilization.
