SOME NOTABLE APC CHIEFTAINS ATTACKED IN A MEETING AHEAD OF AKEREDOLU'S INAUGURATION

At least ten chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo state were injured when some thugs invaded their meeting on the inauguration of the governor-elect Rotimi Akeredolu SAN.

According to a report on Vanguard, the attack which happened at the party’s secretariat in Isua area of the state, was allegedly masterminded by a member of the party in the National Assembly.

Amongst those that were molested include a former commissioner for Natural resources, Solagbade Amodeni and other leaders in Akoko South East area of the state.

It was gathered that the national assembly member who allegedly secretly worked for the governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy AD, Olusola Oke in the last election, planned a come back to the party which was resisted by the leaders in the area.

But following Akeredolu’s victory at the poll, the alleged sponsor made a u-turn but all his attempt to assume the position of the leader of the party were rebuffed.

This led to his decision to invade the meeting of APC chieftain ahead of theday inauguration.Reports had it that some thugs said to have been sponsored by him invaded the meeting and beat up the leaders while many others were injured.

Party leaders who reportedly sustained injuries were rushed to the hospital while many properties were destroyed at the party secretariat.

It was gathered that the crisis started when the national assembly member arrived at the meeting with some of his supporters uninvited. The meeting ended abruptly afterwards.Speaking on the ‎attack, the former commissioner Solagbade Amodeni said he was molested while his mobile phone and other value items were carted away by the hoodlums.

However, Police Image Maker Femi Joseph reaction was still expected as at the time of filing report.
